Laser hair removal works by utilizing the pigment in the hair shaft to deliver energy to the hair follicle. The hair follicle is then damaged and thus prevents future hair growth. Unfortunately laser hair removal does not work on blonde, grey, white, silver or red hair. Diolaze may be used on most skin tones, be sure to consult with your aesthetic provider to determine if you’re are a candidate.
Hair grows in phases and laser hair removal works best on those hair follicles that are in their active growth phase. For this reason, multiple sessions are required to achieve the best results. Typically 4-6 sessions are required however this may vary based on the hair color, skin tone, type of hair and body area. Sessions are spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart.
Diolaze hair removal can be used on most areas of the face and body where you have unwanted hair. The most commonly treated areas are chin, upper lip, sideburns, bikini, arms, shoulders, chest, back, stomach and legs.
Before your appointment please refrain from excessive sun exposure, tanning beds or self tanners for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to treatment. Do NOT tweeze, wax or use a depilatory for one month prior to your treatment as this removes the hair shaft thus removing the catalyst for the laser hair treatment to reach the follicle.
To prepare for your laser hair removal appointment please ensure that you skin is freshly shaven (within the previous 24 hours). In order to obtain the best result the hair must be as short and as close to the follicle as possible. You can assist your technician by pointing out where you have unwanted hair growth for your treatment. Patients not freshly shaven will be rescheduled.
After your session your skin may appear slightly red and bumpy, this is normal as this is swelling and redness within the follicle. Your technician my apply a cream to the treated area to minimize this effect for your comfort. Approximately 5 days after your treatment you may use a gentle exfoliant or wash cloth to help loosen and remove the damaged hairs as they are pushed out of the follicle.
